Thanks for your interest in our Trade-Up Program.
This program is designed for those of you that would otherwise give your clothing away/donate it/trash it. If you have the time and patience to sell your previously loved goods on other platforms like facebook marketplace, you will get a better return. If you don’t, and want to participate in a cool initiative with your local shop, that’s perfect!!
HOW IT WORKS
This is not consignment. Bring in your gently used clothing and receive store credit.
Steel issues your store credit immediately and takes on all the risk of selling the items or not. You will be issued a separate credit note for each piece.
Steel will sell the used items (in-store only) at a fair accessible price, taking into account that the store incurs processing fees upon the sale, costs for the tags, and of course labour expenses for the amazing staff working the store.
Trade in values:
$10 for a tank/tee
$15 for a top/blouse/sweatshirt or any casual bottoms (short rompers and mini dresses included here)
$20 for a sweater, jeans + dress pants, maxi dress/pantsuit
$25 for a jacket
*On a per basis value for any particularly unique pieces.
Redeeming Your Credit:
The credit can be used towards any NEW item double the value or more.
The credit does not expire and is valid while Steel Style Garage is in operation.
What Items Are We Accepting?
At the moment we are only accepting women’s apparel. We are not yet accepting bags or men’s apparel.
Styles must be brands we carry or brands of similar quality/vibe/price point.
Styles must be gently used with no imperfections. Shave off that pilling!
- Email steelstylegarage@gmail.com with photos of max 4 items that you’d like to trade in.
- Wait for a response with an approval message.
- Drop your approved items off on Mondays 10:30 to 5pm or Thursdays 10:30 to 6pm.
- Follow the rules. We will not accept items otherwise.
We love the idea of this program! It aligns with our sustainability initiatives and achieves a couple things that our team I thinks are important:
- Re-homes clothing instead of it ending up in the landfill or never being worn
- Provides customers with budget constraints access to the brands they love through our “traded up” stock
- Gives those who prefer to buy used clothing for sustainability reasons, a way to shop with us and support their local business
- offers our regular shoppers an easy way to part with something not being worn resulting in savings on their new clothing purchases
